Doug Koenig
Columbia, Missouri, May 29, 2010 – Professional shooter Doug Koenig, widely regarded as the world’s best all-around shooter, came from behind on the last day of the competition and won his 12th National Action Pistol Championship at the Green Valley Rifle and Pistol Club in Columbia, Missouri. Koenig was the only shooter in the competition to fire a 1920 “clean” score at the annual event. In 1990, a twenty year old Koenig became the first shooter to fire a perfect score at this national championship. The Bianchi Cup is considered to be the most difficult pistol match in the world and is also thought to be one of the most prestigious prizes in competitive shooting.
Shooting in warm weather conditions, Koenig posted a score of 480-45x at the Safariland Barricade Event on the first day of the event. Koenig, who had regularly posted scores of 480-48x at the barricade event in the past, felt that this “was not a good beginning to the match,” given the required x count necessary to win the match. After shooting a score of 480-45x at the Practical Event and a 480-48 at the Smith and Wesson Falling Plate event on day number two, Koenig entered the last day of competition “clean” but two x’s behind the leader. Given the precision nature of the event and the difficulty in making up x’s late in the event, Koenig stated that “although he had his work cut out for him, he was still in a good position.”
“I only use the best and that’s why I use Walker’s”
On the third and final day of the match, Koenig fired a score of 480-41x at the Moving Target Event and waited on the score of the final shooter and leader. Ten minutes after Koenig fired his Mover stage, the match was over. The final results showed that Koenig was the only shooter to have fired a “clean” 1920 and he was declared the winner of his 12th National Action Pistol Championship – and the Bianchi Cup. Koenig’s aggregate score for the Open Championship was 1920-179x.
Koenig also competed in the Aggregate Championship and was the winner of the Multi-Gun Aggregate Award. Using a metallic gun with metallic sights, Koenig won the Multi-Gun Aggregate. The Multi-Gun Award goes to the competitor with the highest combined Open and Metallic scores. This was the first time that Koenig competed in the Aggregate Championship. Koenig, however, was not done at the 2010 Bianchi Cup.
The next morning, Koenig completed a sweep at the Bianchi Cup by winning the optional Speed Event. The Speed Event brings the top finishers from the match back to the range to compete on Saturday morning. Shooting at steel, the competitors shoot against each other in an elimination format. Koenig, riding a hot streak, shot his way to another win at the match. This was Koenig’s second straight Speed Event title.
Koenig has won national and world championships in pistol events, shotgun events, and rifle events. A professional shooter, Koenig has dominated competitive pistol shooting for the last fifteen years. Koenig has won sixteen Masters International Championships, three World Speed Shooting Championships, an IPSC World Championship, three World Action Pistol Championships (holds World Record Score), thirteen Sportsman's Team Challenge Championships, a World All-Around Championship, and twelve National Action Pistol Championships (Bianchi Cup). |

Ralph Cianciarulo
When you talk about hunting and promoting it to the entire family, there are two names that always come up, Ralph and Vicki Cianciarulo, ‘North America’s Favorite Hunting Couple’ and hosts of the number one bow hunting television show, ARCHER’S CHOICE® and now their new show, THE CHOICE.
Ralph and Vicki have done it all, from owning their own archery pro shop, to outfitting for deer, bear, and elk. They have worked from the bottom up to earn a reputation that is second to none in the hunting industry. It doesn’t matter to them if their names are up in lights, they would rather continue to grow the sport, than brag about their accomplishments. Their knowledge comes from the highest authorities out there, the animals themselves. They scout, hang stands, and do what we all do, just hunt. Ralph & Vicki believe that the best way to learn is from hands-on experience; and their TV shows, DVD’s, seminars, and articles all prove they are the REAL DEAL! |
