The SafeLivinG Campaign
Walker’s partners with multiple organizations that empower gun owners to use safe practices when handling their firearm. Shoot Like A Girl is a proud Walker’s partner who’s launching a new public safety campaign called SafeLivinG™. Their new campaign promotes firearm safety education with the slogan “Know the Five to Stay Alive”. These five rules will help to protect all gun owners, especially new gun owners. Owning a firearm comes with the implied responsibilities to be safe and responsible. Walker’s and Shoot Like A Girl value the importance of being safe and using best practices when using your firearm. We hope that these five rules keep everyone safe when handling their firearms.
Know The Five To Stay Alive
The Five Rules Are:
- Always treat a gun like it is loaded
- Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction
- Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
- Always know your target and what is beyond
- Always keep your gun secured from unauthorized persons

We know that some of these rules might seem like common sense to most gun owners, it is important that all gun owners are not only educated on best practices but that they are implementing these best practices when handling their firearms. One of the less practiced rules is rule number five, always keep your gun secured from unauthorized persons. We all want to trust our friends and family to use best practices when handling a firearm, but it is important to be safe rather than sorry. Obvious reasons for keeping your firearm secured is to keep it away from potential bad guys, curious children, and to prevent it from being stolen. Sadly one of this biggest reasons should be to protect your own family and friends from taking their own life. Suicide rates amongst both men and women are on the rise and all of us as gun owners need to create a barrier between our struggling loved ones and a tool that can be used to cause self-harm.
